Taylor’s University School of Communication (SOC) has recently announced its admission intake forinterested candidates in the Bachelor of Psychology (Hons) programme. The course is designed toensure a holistic development from self-discovery, to relationship competency and progressively toleadership formation.
According to the Dean of SOC, Ms. Josephine Tan Lian Lei, the curriculum lays the foundation for aconceptual and analytical understanding of the applied aspects in psychology. “This course preparesstudents for a research career as well as a stepping stone to continue their education in a Mastersprogramme. The syllabus underwent a stringent review process, in accordance with the MalaysianQualifications Agency.”
As a key feature to aid their educational progress, students from the second year will undertake anexperiential learning of group dynamics through a system called PODZ. They will have an opportunity toshare their highlights and challenges of the course; personal experiences or discuss case studies withtheir designated team.
Dr. Johnben Loy, Founder and Clinical Director of Rekindle Centre for Systemic Therapy, felt that thedegree’s emphasis on self-discovery, interpersonal mastery and growing the leader will help studentsattain the necessary skills and capabilities to take their productive place as leaders in the globalcommunity. “I am very excited that Malaysia will have a psychology programme delivered at a top-notchuniversity that will draw upon leading-edge knowledge in psychology – the art as well as the science – togrow students in personal and life-changing ways,” he accounted.
Additionally, the undergraduate course epitomises the essence of the Taylor’s SHINE Award programme.Participating students will undergo a journey which uncovers four learning packages to help develop fivecritical skills: Collaboration, Communication, Cultural Adaptation, Critical Thinking & Problem Solving,and Creativity & Innovation. The three-year course is available to students in the Arts and Sciencestream with a minimum entry requirement of CGPA 2.00.
